چکیده

We present an analytic perturbation theory which extends the paraxial approximation for a common cylindrically symmetric stable optical resonator and incorporates the differential, polarizationdependent reflectivity of a Bragg mirror. The degeneracy of Laguerre-Gauss modes with distinct orbital angular momentum (OAM) and polarization, but identical transverse order N , will become observably lifted at sufficiently small size and high finesse. The resulting paraxial eigenmodes possess two distinct OAM components, the fractional composition subtly depending on mirror

Energy shift and state mixing of Rydberg atoms in ponderomotive optical traps

We present a degenerate perturbation analysis in the spin–orbit coupled basis for Rydberg atoms in an optical trap. The perturbation matrix is found to be nearly the same for two states with the same total angular momentum j, and orbital angular momentum number l differing by 1, The same perturbation matrices result in the same state-mixing and energy shift. We also study the dependence of stat...

Study on Generation of Higher Order Orbital Angular Momentum Modes and Parameters Affecting the Vortex

In this manuscript, higher-order Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) modes and parameters affecting vortex in the radiation pattern have been studied. A uniform circular array resonating at 10 GHz frequency is formed using eight identical rectangular patch antennas. Three uniform circular arrays are analyzed, simulated, and fabricated for OAM modes 0, +1, and -1 respectively. The higher-order OAM mo...

Degenerate cavity supporting more than 31 Laguerre-Gaussian modes.

Photons propagating in Laguerre-Gaussian modes have characteristic orbital angular momenta, which are fundamental optical degrees of freedom. The orbital angular momentum of light has potential application in high-capacity optical communication and even in quantum information processing. In this work, we experimentally construct a ring cavity with four lenses and four mirrors that is completely...

Calculating the fine structure of a Fabry-Perot resonator using spheroidal wave functions.

A new set of vector solutions to Maxwell's equations based on solutions to the wave equation in spheroidal coordinates allows laser beams to be described beyond the paraxial approximation. Using these solutions allows us to calculate the complete first-order corrections in the short-wavelength limit to eigenmodes and eigenfrequencies in a Fabry-Perot resonator with perfectly conducting mirrors....

Manipulation of high-order scattering processes in ultrasmall optical resonators to control far-field emission.

By imposing a set of harmonic perturbations to a microcavity boundary, we induce conversion and mixing of orbital angular momentum of light via surface scattering. Multiple scattering paths are available due to high-order scattering, which can be greatly enhanced by quasidegenerate resonances. By manipulating the relative strengths of these scattering processes, we theoretically synthesize the ...
